Social Media Management – Are You Taking Advantage of The New Social Media Marketing?
The rules of promoting your business have changed – Facebook Marketing and Twitter Marketing are here to stay.
With the advent of Social Media everything has changed. An online community of Twitter or Facebook users can make or break your business with their iPhones. Your company or service may be getting hundreds or thousands of good or bad reviews on the new mobile sites like Gowalla or Foursquare, either building up your reputation or tearing it down without you even knowing it. You need social media management. Social Networking sites are growing exponentially. A Social Media Manager through effective social media management strategy can help you build a positive presence and increase your customer base.
Facebook marketing – in 2009, the population of Facebook surpassed that of the U.S.A. In just over two years, it is now double the population of the US. If Facebook were a nation, they would be the 3rd largest in the world. The impact of this on marketing through Social Media management is staggering. Big corporations are quickly catching on to the power of Social Media Marketing, which includes Twitter marketing. For the first time, in 2010, ending a 23 year run, Pepsi Cola pulled out of advertising in the Super Bowl ditching it for Social Media. The phenomenal growth of Social Media (texting, blogging, networking)has the attention of every major company. Social Media Management has become an essential component in today’s business.
Are you taking advantage of the new Social Media, which is in many ways free or much less expensive than traditional advertising methods?
You Need Social Media Marketing
Are you up to speed on the new Social Media or are you overwhelmed by all the Social Media offered online today?
Social Media is changing all the time with new services and new technology appearing at a blinding pace.
Social Media Marketing must be approached very different than traditional marketing. You are not selling your business, you are creating relationships through communities. If people feel you are part of their community, they will support you and recommend you to their friends. It is truly word-of-mouth marketing at its best. Do you have a Social Media Management plan and strategy?
Do you understand the do’s and the don’ts of Social Media Marketing?
Social Media Marketing has its own rules that are very different than traditional marketing. It is very important to know how to structure and manage a Social Media Marketing campaign as your company’s reputation depends on it. Marketing on Facebook and marketing on Twitter are very different, for example, yet both are necessary for a complete campaign.

Hey Carl,
I am studying Fashion Management and for my final year I have to write a dissortion. I am wanting to base mine on how fashion is influenced by social media. I was wondering if you had any information on the subject which I could include in my essay. Thank you,

Carl,
great site, I like your blog, good info. on google places, I will recommend this to a buddy of mine who is trying to build his window covering business, sent him a link to the article.
Again, great info.
Thank you Scott!
I landed here following a link in your blog about claiming a business page on google. How could I do that?
I think attitudes need too change with some people using social media for business. It’s more about long term branding that making money in the short term. Case in point. A presence on Google Search = Instant Profits. But a strong presence on Facebook or Twitter does not. Again, it’s about branding which is all about a relationship in the mind of your potential customer. In the case of social media, it’s a literal relationship which is even more powerful – so I agree, businesses need to get on board, but for the right reasons. Thanks for the article!
As described in the article, “What is Social Networking, and Why Should You Care,” Internet-based social media make it easier for people to listen, interact, engage and collaborate with each other. But, as the volume of social media venues and conversations rises, it quickly becomes a time- and labor-intense process to effectively track, converse, monitor and manage them.
Social media management solutions can help you manage outbound and incoming online interactions — along with other small business marketing activities — in a more efficient manner. They streamline and consolidate how you listen to and participate in relevant conversations in the different places they’re taking place — blogs, social networks like Twitter or Facebook, and other public and private Web communities and sites.

Hi Carl, we’re promoting a similar message over in the UK.
It’s amazing how the high profile of social media seems to be a double edged sword – everyone thinks they know what it is, when in fact the complexities are subtle and need a good strategy behind them to show business benefit.
Best of luck with your work!
Thanks for this new advantages of social media marketing. I will remember it.
Hi Carl, very much like youR site.
Very much like your tweets and website.
Re your recent Tweet on back links, what impact could I expect to the rankings of my individual blogs (which go page 1 uk in about 50 percent of them and about 15% in International! If I were to invest in back links to my daily blogging magazine wowdewow with either general back linking or linking to one of our sections, culture/lifestyle/society/tech/business.
And how could I measure it. And How many times would I need to refresh the links.
Many thanks, Nathan
Hi Nathan,
The key to backlinks is to keep a steady stream of them to your content. They do grow old and, depending on what kind of backlinks they are, stop working due to the page disappearing and so on. To measure your backlinks and rankings, a tool like Market Samurai is good.
